GreaterFindlayInc. and the Agency on Aging Present Senior Leadership Program
The Hancock County Agency on Aging and GreaterFindlayInc announce an 8-week Senior Leadership Program designed for retirees and semi-retirees in the community to join the 24 year-old Hancock Leadership and 10 year old Hancock Youth Leadership programs that inform and link volunteer leaders to civic engagement in Findlay and Hancock County.
Retirees offer a wealth of experience, leadership and vitality to their communities while enriching their own lives. Senior Leadership Programs provide seniors with knowledge of community needs, new friendships and volunteer opportunities.
The main objectives of Hancock Senior Leadership are:
- To develop and empower mature adults to assume new leadership roles which contribute to the well being of the community
- To acquaint participants with the area's assets, challenges and opportunities
- To provide a forum to broaden mature adult citizens' knowledge of the community through presentations, interactive discussions and tours in a series of eight, 6-hour sessions.
- To provide an opportunity to meet new friends who share the same intellectual curiosity and commitment to our community
The first Senior Leadership Class, an 8-week series begins Tuesday, September 29 and ends Tuesday, November 17. Each class day will be on a Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The topics include: Orientation and History of Hancock County, Energizing the Area Economy, New Challenges & Directions in Public Education, Diversity & Faith-based Issues, Justice and Safety, Arts and Recreation, Local Government and Health Care.
